They are meant to aid you in expanding the Kingdom of God through the love of Christ. Yes, Christ is our daily bread.

Friendship

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go a bear fruit - fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other." -John 15:12-17

Friendship is our opportunity to bless and enrich the lives of others. Embracing this view of relationships will allow us to sift through our jealousy, anger, pride, selfishness, and attempts at dishonest gain. We will then have the freedom to consume one another with a more real and personal love. A love that is nothing less than authentic. A love that takes a friends wounds upon our back and calls them our own. A love that soars with them to the mountain tops of joy. A love that speaks in the stillness. A humble love that washes their feet. A love that makes us want to lay down our life for others.

We all have on friend like this: Jesus Christ. Let us be an imitation of Him. He has laid the foundation for us to build upon, and now we must love one another as He has loved us. After all, we have desired and received this love. Let us share this gift with others, giving up all of ourselves so that His truth may be revealed.

The Bread of Life

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." -John 6:35

In these words Jesus extends Himself to the weary traveler and the joyous journeyman. They are meant for the blind as well as those who believe that they see. The gem hidden within the caverns of John 6:35 is a reminder that Jesus is always inviting us to "Come!"

We just have to listen to His voice. Yes, He calls us by name, wishing to take our hand and lead us down by still waters where we may find peace and rest. But so often we go our separate ways.

"Please, my child...I love you."

His voice is soft yet firm. Gently beckoning us. And every so often, we will open our eyes. Our heart. Our ears. It is His calling that places a longing in our minds for something more out of this life. Some purpose.

"Yes! This is I!" As we draw near His cadence becomes clearer. We can feel the flow of grace replacing every ounce of blood in our bodies. Giving us life and a renewed love.

The opportunity for such moments arrives at the doors of our hearts every day. Christ is always among us. Ready to deepen our hearts if we are willing to open our eyes. He places the bread before us and says, "Eat and be satisfied." This bread is Himself. Christ places Himself before us. Every day.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body." –Matthew 26:26

Live today with Christ. Take your bread. So simple yet so necessary. It is your source of life. And maybe, just maybe, you will be able to share your source of life with others so that they may no longer hunger.
